Non- Certified applicants must pass a physical ability test which consists of:
A 300 meter run in 84 seconds or less
19 push-ups in 1 minute or less
A vertical jump of 12.5 inches or more
22 sit-ups in 1 minute or less
A 1.5 mile run in 19 minutes or less

The Evesham Township Police Department is an internationally accredited agency whose members take pride in their proactive response to crime, disorder and quality of life issues. The department is organized into two divisions: Operations and Administrative, and four bureaus: Patrol, Investigative, Support Services, and Training. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

A. Is a citizen of the United States.

B. Is of good mental and bodily health sufficient to satisfy the Board of Trustees of the Police and Firemen's Retirement System of New Jersey that would make the applicant eligible for membership in the retirement system.

C. Is able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently.

D. Is of good moral character and free from conviction of any crime constituting an indictable offense or any crime or offense involving moral turpitude.

E. Is able to pass such written, oral, physical and psychological examinations as shall be selected by the Township Manager and meet essential job functions, to include a mental health records check to determine fitness to possess a firearm.

F. Is a graduate from a senior high school or shall have had formal education or training showing attainment of the level represented by graduation from senior high school with a minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited college. Two years of active-duty military (or Coast Guard) service with an honorable discharge can be substituted for the sixty-college-credit requirement.

G. Is a holder of a valid New Jersey driver's license.

H. Otherwise meets all requirements of N.J.S.A. 40A:14-122 to 40A:14-127

The Evesham Township Police Department is recruiting for the position of Special Law Enforcement Officer, Class II. We are seeking energetic, enthusiastic, and hard-working individuals for our police department. We currently employ 98 sworn police officers: 81 full-time police officers, 7 Special Law Enforcement Police Officers (SLEO II), 8 Special Law Enforcement Police Officers (SLEO III), 2 Special Law Enforcement Police Officers (SLEO I), and 9 civilian employees. We offer a modern facility, excellent equipment, and a proactive approach to training. Applicants must possess a waiver eligible New Jersey Police Training Commission Basic Police Officer certification, or a Special Law Enforcement Class II certification.

The Class II Officer primary responsibilities will mainly consist of the following tasks: Municipal court and building security, assisting with the department training function, and assisting with maintenance of the department fleet and property function.

The following are the requirements necessary to be considered for employement with the Evesham Police Department for a Class II Special Police Officer:

A valid NJ driver's license
No criminal record
A New Jersey State Police Training Commission Certificate (SLEO II or Waiver eligible).
Candidates may not be employed as a full-time sworn Law Enforcement Officer whle serving as a SLEO II.
Candidates may not be employed as a SLEO II for more than one municipality at a time.
A resident of the State of New Jersey.
Ability to perform all of the essential job functions of a police oficer.

The Class III Special Police Officer, under the direction of the Chief of Police, shall conduct school safety and security duties within the Township of Evesham school district.
Minimum Qualifications, the applicant must:
 Be a resident of the State of New Jersey during his or her term of appointment to this position.
 Be able to read, write, and speak the English language with reasonable proficiency and possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
 Be sound in body and of good health, which must be certified by a physician licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey.
 Be of good moral character and must not have been convicted of any offense involving dishonesty as would make the applicant unfit to perform the duties.
 The applicant must be a retired law enforcement officer less than 65 years of age who served as a duly-qualified, fully-trained, full-time police officer in any municipality or county of this state, or as a member of the State Police, and was separated from that prior service in good standing within three years of appointment to this position.
 The applicant must be physically capable of performing the function of the position in accordance with the Police Training Commission (PTC).
 The applicant must possess a NJ Police Training Commission Basic Police Officer Certification or NJ State
Police Academy Certification.
 The applicant must possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
 The applicant must successfully pass a background investigation.
 Applicants successfully passing the first phase will be subject to oral interviews.
 Any applicant offered a conditional offer of employment will be required to pass a medical examination, psychological examination and drug screening, to include mental health records check to determine fitness to possess a firearm.
 Preference may be given to retired police officers who previously served as a School Resource Officer (SRO), Juvenile Officer or D.A.R.E/L.E.A.D. Instructor.
Starting Salary for Class III Special Police Officer shall be $35.00 per hour and he/shall work as assigned, while school is in session, to be determined upon hiring.
