The Support Services Unit is comprised of a Traffic Officer, School Safety Unit, Quartermaster, Records and clerical staff, and a civilian Police Technician.

The goal of the Traffic Officer is to reduce motor vehicle collisions, fatalities and injuries while facilitating the expeditious and safe movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. In recognition of the fact that this can best be achieved by voluntary compliance with traffic regulations, the traffic unit’s mission is to educate the public by representing a deterrent to improper vehicle operation.

The Traffic Officer deploys a speed trailer to predetermined locations within the township on a daily basis. The trailer is an educational tool intended to focus driver attention and illustrate the difference between the driver’s actual speed and the posted speed limit. Residents can request deployment of the speed trailer in their neighborhood by contacting Sergeant John Tew of the Support Services Unit at (856) 983-1116 or by e-mail at tewj@twp.evesham.nj.us.

The Traffic Officer is also responsible for conducting traffic related research concerning the volume and speed of vehicular traffic at identified locations within the township. This research is necessary to formulate recommendations to traffic planners for improvements to the infrastructure and traffic control systems in the township.

The Clerical Staff maintain the records of the Police Dept. and assist the general public with obtaining the necessary records that are requested. The Quartermaster duties are to maintain the equipment and supplies for the Police Dept. Our Police Technician serves the Department by handling, Firearms applications, Alarm enforcement, and walk-in complaints.
