The Special Response Team (SRT) is a 10-man unit that was established to ensure that the department was adequately prepared to respond to incidents involving hostages, barricaded subjects, high risk warrant service and other similar incidents requiring a level of enhanced tactical intervention. The part-time unit functions on an as needed basis with the team members having regular duty assignments within the police department.

SRT officers are required to undergo intense specialized training prior to assignment on the team and thereafter members hone their skills by participating in frequent practical training sessions and mock-up exercises.
