ALARM INFORMATION
False alarms obstruct the performance of your police department and endanger the life and property of others.

In 2002, the Evesham Township Police Department responded to 2,764 alarm activations.

Chapter 43 of The Code of the Township of Evesham regulates alarm systems installed at all properties in Evesham Township and provides for the following:

  1. It is the responsibility of all persons (including corporations, firms groups, etc.) that maintain alarm systems to provide current information to the police department, consisting of the names and telephone numbers of responsible persons who may be contacted to respond in case of emergency. (emergency contact information) This information must furnished when the alarm system is initially placed in service and must be revised immediately when changes occur.
  2. Audible alarms must be silenced within sixty (60) minutes after a designated responsible person is notified to do so by the police or the alarm system may be equipped with a timing device that will automatically silence the alarm within sixty (60) minutes after it is activated.
  3. It shall be the responsibility of all persons and entities having alarm systems in the township to prevent he transmission of false alarms. In the event that the number of false alarms from a single location should exceed six (6) during the calendar year, the owner of the alarm system shall pay a service charge.
  4. in the judgement of the Chief of Police any alarm system becomes a nuisance to the police as a result of excessive false alarms, the Chief of Police may take the necessary action to correct the problem. This may include instructing members of the police department not to respond to additional alarms until the subscriber indicates in writing the steps that are taken or will be taken to correct the false alarm problem.
  5. In addition to all of the above provisions, any person or entity whose alarm system generates the below listed number of false alarms shall be charged with a violation of the Code of the Township of Evesham and may be subject to the corresponding fines.
