About the Evesham Police Department

The Evesham Police Department was established in July of 1966.  Prior to July of 1966, the residents of Evesham Township relied on State Police coverage during daytime hours and a volunteer force of local residents led by Chief William Bradley who patrolled between the hours of 6 PM and 6 AM.

The first full-time police department, headed by Chief Andrew Jensen, consisted of a force of 7 officers serving this small farming community located halfway between Philadelphia and Fort Dix.

In the ensuing years, the farms have been replaced by corporate offices, a vibrant commercial district and a residential population that continues to grow to this day. The department has continued to grow to meet the needs of the community. The Evesham Township Police Department is currently staffed by 75 sworn officers under the leadership of Chief Joseph Cornely. Chief Cornely succeeded previous Chiefs Nicholas Matteo, Joseph Leedom, and Andrew Jansen. Today the police department serves Burlington Countys largest municipality. The township, more commonly known by its postal address of Marlton, is approximately 30 square miles with an estimated population of 49,000. Over the years the department has continually attempted to provide officers with the best available equipment and training in order to deploy an efficient and effective patrol force.
